In music, the symbol "pp" stands for pianissimo. Pianissimo is known as a dynamic, or indication of the amount of sound that should be produced by the musician as they are playing a section of a piece (volume, loudness). Pianissimo directs the musician to play very softly or quietly. Other dynamics include:

ff - fortissimo - very loud

f - forte - loud

mf - mezzo forte - medium, but closer to loud

mp - mezzo piano - medium, but closer to quiet

p - piano - quiet

pp - pianissimo - very quiet
'pp' stands for 'pianissimo.' It means 'very soft.' It is what as known as a dynamic, which is an indicator in a musical piece of the volume to which the certain note(s) should be played or sang; therefore, 'pp' indicates that the performer should play or sing the notes 'very softly.'
