Paul Revere and William Dawes road out to Concord to warn that the British were coming to arrest the "rebels" and then on to Lexington to warn them to hide their military stores. The British reached Lexington and a small skirmish occurred on the early morning of 19 April 1775. They continued on to Concord where the first British were killed by Minutemen at the North Bridge. As the British marched back to Boston, minutemen from the surrounding towns attacked them and many more were killed that day.
