There are two different types of IMAX Theatres, IMAX domed theatres and IMAX flat-screened theatres. IMAX domed theatres have the image on a domed shaped screen in a generally circular room so that the image is projected in front, above, and to the left and right of you. IMAX flat screened theatres are like a larger version of a standard movie screen. IMAX flat screens have the capability to show 3D movies, unlike domes screened theatres.
