Is the story phantom of the opera real?

It has been speculated Gaston Leroux's Phantom was real, Gaston Leroux was a reporter of the newspaper Le Matin, he was investigating Gardner Paris Opera House, he discovered prisoners of the Paris Commune living in the basement of the Opera House. He could have based the Phantom on them and the numerous homeless men who live underground Paris. Of course there is nothing of proof of this, to say there is the real Phantom.
