What matters instead is the conclusion that a disloyal Theban needs to be remembered as a traitor and not a hometown boy. So what matters essentially is the adage that what you bind on earth you bind in heaven. Specifically, it's that last act of righteous defiance by which Creon judges and condemns Polyneices, and not an otherwise apparently circumspect life.
