1. Language. Shakespeare coined several terms and phrases. Some examples are: eyeball, puking, skim milk, obscene, hot-blooded, alligator, and wormhole.
2. Timelessness. Many of today's stories, especially the medium of television or cinema, are retelling Shakespearean tales. Examples are the movies 10 Things I Hate About You, She's the Man, and O.
3. Entertainment. His stories set a high standard for modern literature to attempt to achieve.
Shakespeare was influenced by both Charles Darwin and Francis Galton because of their theories about how a person behaves according to their surroundings or upbringing. Shakespeare wanted to encourage schools to include acting in their curriculum.

His real influences were the English playwrights who were writing at the time Shakespeare was just getting started, especially Christopher Marlowe, Thomas Kyd and George Peele.
