ROM ROM is an acronym for Read Only Memory. The advantage of ROM is that its contents do not evaporate when the power is switched off. Therefore the program which needs to execute when the computer is first switched on is stored in a ROM chip on the computer's motherboard. Once the program stored in the ROM chip has finished initialising the hardware, it moves the head of the hard disk to track 0, reads the first sector of track 0 into memory, and then passes control to the short program stored in the first sector of the hard disk. To simplify a bit, it is the responsibility of that program to locate the operating system files on disk, and then begin the process of loading them. hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllo

An operating system is described as an "interrupt-driven software" because basically everything that goes on software-wise is some sort of interrupt to the OS. Whenever you press a key or click or even move the mouse, an interrupt is sent to the operating system that retrieves the previously saved data about the event, updates it, refreshes the current state of the event, and then returns back to the user. All of this happens so quick that we don't notice a difference.
index of a book or periodical, a list, nearly always alphabetical, of the topics treated. This list is usually at the back of a book, and the table of contents is in the front. The index seeks to direct the reader to all names and subjects on which the book has information.
The hierarchical structure of the operating system is divided into different parts. The drive is the highest structure of organization while a file is the lowest.

Unless you have specified to save the contents of your zune to your computer, no the contents are not stored on the computer. If at somepoint you stored or copied the contents to your computer and didn't pay attention to where you stored them, the most likely place the computer stored the files (by default) will be in a file called "my documents" and perhaps a sub folder called "my music" If the files are stored to your computer, you would have, at some point, selected an "ok" button to download them to your computer or save them to a file.
