go to your nearest pow wow and get your self an Indian taco and whach the grass dance ******* The grass dance is a very traditional dance used by the Plains tribes primarily. It is also amazing to watch and takes many years to perfect. Years ago, grass dancers would be sent into the area where a nomadic tribe was going to set up camp. In the spirit of never hurting the earth mother, their responsibility was to lay the tall grasses down in such a way as to bend them, not break them. Thus the land could be left as untouched as possible once the tribe moved on. It was a very spiritual dance and difficult to learn. It is also one of the most amazing, but not flashy, dances to watch.
The only form of dance that i wouldn't recommend performing outside is pointe, unless you plan on bringing a dance floor along with you. Now if you are dancing in grass you just need to make sure that you're OK with doing ballet or jazz or contemporary barefooted or in sneakers of some kind. Hip hop is probably the easiest style to perform outside simply because you don't really have to worry about what type of ground you'll be dancing on.Answer:There are many dances performed primarily outside. Well known examples are Haka the traditional Māori dance, English Morris Dancing, North American aboriginal dances (grass dance, chicken dance, etc.), May Pole dances, Hawaiian Hula dances, Scottish sword dances at military/highland games celebrations, etc.
traditionally....its a mens dance. but traditionally everyone was equal and genders were not used often. when a family did not have a son to hunt, fish, trap, go to war or provide for the family...who did this? the daughters. so remember to follow whats in your heart when u dance. conncet with elders who are respectful of people wanting to dance so you can get the teachings and the regalia blessed before hand. two spirited people are often 'switch dancers' people who dance the 'opposite sex' dance
You can find Kalatong dance steps on the video CD "16 Best Philippine Folk Dances On Video CD" VOL. 3 (Hiyas Folkloric & The Maharlika Rondalla). It is for Students and Cultural dancers for Abroad.

The grass dance is one that was used when the people were creating a new settlement on the long grass of the plains. Through this dance, the grass was flattened so that they could more easily place their lodges without doing long lasting damage to the earth. It is a beautiful dance!
Polynesian homes are typically traditional structures made of local materials such as wood, thatch, and palm leaves. Polynesian clothing includes items like tapa cloth, made from tree bark, and grass skirts, often adorned with intricate patterns and designs. Both homes and clothing in Polynesian cultures reflect the natural resources and craftsmanship of the region.
