The study of organizational behavior got its start after World War One. In 1931, Elton Mayo wrote Human Problems of an Industrial Civilization, which was one of the first publications that encouraged management to acknowledge the emotional needs of employees. By the end of World War II schools began to appear, which focused on organizational behavior and Psychology.
Leigh and Maynard's management theory include using motivational techniques to improve workers' effectiveness. The model also emphasized that superiors should developing a trusting relationship with employees.
