The story of Romeo and Juliet we are familiar with is from a play written by William Shakespeare late in the 16th century. But Shakespeare did not make up the story, he got it from a poem by a guy called Arthur Brooke. And Brooke got the idea from an older story, and that story got it from an even older story. Each time the story changed a little. Which one was first? It depends on what counts as "first".

Juliet is described as beautiful, but she's really ugly in the movie. Of course there are a number of different movies and they all have Juliets of varying degrees of ugliness. They also are missing different scenes and different lines. But it is even more complicated than that because there isn't "a book" of Romeo and Juliet. There are a whole bunch of slightly different books where editors have added things or left things out. So the real questions are what movie are we talking about, what edition of the play are we talking about, and which actress are we talking about.

Yes and no. The Romeo and Juliet story has been told many times over in many different formats: as a short story, a poem, a play, an Opera, a Broadway musical, a Ballet, a symphonic poem, a screenplay and so on. Yes there was a poem called Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke. However, the really really famous version of the story is the play by William Shakespeare, which is based on Brooke's poem but is of course a play not a poem.

There isn't exactly a difference... the book is a play- the play would be the acting out of the book- which is script- hope this helps
