If you separate magic tricks from escapology, then Houdini's most impressive trick was the disappearing elephant trick. Here an elephant was walked on to the stage and into a box; the box was rotated then opened. The elephant and keeper were gone. The trick is all the more impressive if you know that under the stage was a swimming pool so there were no trap doors. It's generally thought that Houdini did the trick with a slanted mirror inside the box. This method is still used today to make the Statue of Liberty (or the like) disappear.

Many guys punched Harry Houdini, it was a common Houdini stunt that he frequently invited people to do to demonstrate how he could not be hurt. Nothing happened to any of them as Houdini wanted them to punch him. If you mean the guy that caught Houdini by surprise before he could prepare as he needed to for this to prevent injury, probably contributing to the ruptured appendix that killed Houdini a couple weeks later - nothing. He likely suffered from self imposed guilt though. Remember, Harry Houdini's act involved inviting punishment and potential injury and appearing to be unaffected!
Houdini was very competive as a child he liked to show off.
Harry Houdini began his professional career at age 17 doing magic shows before civic groups, in music halls, at sideshows, and at New York's Coney Island amusement park, where he sometimes performed 20 shows each day. For a time he worked with his brother Theo as The Houdini Brothers. This changed when Harry met Beatrice Raymond, a teenaged singer and dancer who was also attempting a career in show business. Harry and Bess married in 1894 and Bess joined the act as Harry's new partner. Harry and Bess remained devoted companions for the rest of his life.

There are a few quotes about Harry Houdini:There's something about the Houdini act that is not always made clear - about the escape act in general. James RandiIt was just like a digital fixation with cards and math and science and then I started to look at images of great magicians from Houdini down the line. David BlaineHoudini connected to people on an emotional level so that when he would escape that straight jacket it wasn't about the straight jacket. It was about people looking at it and escaping poverty. When you have that it's the truest form of magic.Criss Angel
