Quite a lot of things, actually: the English Civil War, the French Revolution, the discovery of smallpox vaccine, the settlement of the American West, the discovery of the internal combustion engine, the fall of the Manchus in China, the invention of the internet. Yes, a lot of things have happened since 1616.

Or are you asking what events were caused by Shakespeare's death? Not much, really: his family was sad and most of his property went to his daughter Susanna Hall, and some of his theatrical friends started to think it might be a nice tribute to gather up all the Shakespeare scripts they had lying about and publish them in one volume.

William Shakespere left some money to his daughters Susanna and Judith. He left his wife Anne, his "second-best bed with the furniture".

Most of his property went to his eldest daughter, Susanna, and her husband Dr. John Hall. A provision was made for the second daughter Judith, but it was tied up to prevent her spendthrift husband getting at it. There is hardly any mention of Shakespeare's wife, Anne. It is assumed that he was satisfied with her getting the share of the estate (one-third) which was the minimum a widow could get by the Dower Law.
