David escapes from the Concentration Camp in hope of getting to Italy for safety. He learns new languages, how to survive and discovers that orange peels taste sharp and unpleasant and he also learns that everything has a reason and that n matter what mistakes you make you are always going to learn from them. he meets new friends on the way and he finds someone he wants to love. its a very good story.

∙ 12y agoWell the book is called I Am David, but she probably wrote it because she wanted to try to link it to the past when the Holocaust happened. That's probably not the answer but the book seems like it.
I don't know for a fact, but I'm guessing to make people appreciate what they have.
And maybe she wrote it so people could learn something. :)
