A tragedy is when something unexpected happens. This therefore makes Romeo and Juliet a tragedy as the death of Juliet was unexpected. It is also deemed as a tragedy because the deaths of Romeo and Juliet were not of their own doing but their families. It could also be said that the story of Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy because the feud between the families doomed their love, and led to the couple committing suicide.
Some people think it's because they die, but I think it's because it shows the idiocy of people who think they've fallen in love and should die for each other over a span of three days. Some people call it love. I don't.
love at first sight is an opinion though and i respect other's opinions no matter how dumb they seem to me.
Romeo and Juliet can actually be considered a tragedy or a comedy. This is because in a Shakespearean comedy, the conflict is resolved at the end, while in a tragedy, the problem is never resolved. In Romeo and Juliet, Capulet and Montague agree to resolve their differences because of their childrens' deaths; therefore, the conflict is resolved. Shakespearean comedies have nothing to do with something being funny, and tragedies have nothing to do with something being sad.
However, this is not correct because the conflict in Hamlet and Titus Andronicus is resolved too by having practically everyone in the cast die and you wouldn't call those comedies. Basically, in Shakespearean comedy nobody dies. The Hero-Claudio plot in Much Ado About Nothing is essentially the same as the plot in Othello, except that where the plot in Othello resolves itself by Othello killing Desdemona and then himself, in Much Ado Hero pretends to be dead, Claudio repents his jealousy but does not kill himself, and they live happily ever after. Romeo and Juliet is not a comedy.
But some people have noticed that the main characters in the tragedies are kings and princes and emperors most of the time, and the tragedy is bound up with the health of the state. This is certainly the case with such plays as Hamlet, or Macbeth, or King Lear, or even Coriolanus. Romeo and Juliet, however, is mostly about the children of two bourgeois families. When they die, it's very sad, but Verona doesn't fall apart as a result. This has led some people to classify Romeo and Juliet as a "tragicomedy" in that it is a tragedy with some elements of Comedy. But really, if you say that, what about Othello? His death didn't cause Venice to collapse--is Othello therefore not a tragedy? The same applies to Timon of Athens.
Well its romantic because its a love story of two young people who want to go against te will of their parents to be together. Its a tragedy because their efforts are put to a end by the consecutive deaths of each protagonist
Drama consists of character in conflict attempting to overcome an obstacle to achieve an objective. In Romeo & Juliet, the lovers are attempting to surmount feud between their families. It is romantic because of the focus on young love.
cos love prevails - kinda - they cant be together in life so will be together in death - shows strength of true love and all that rubbish!
Well it is rather obvious..the main couple both die at the end. The couple being Romeo and Juliet.
because its really sad and has a happy ending

dramatic
Romeo and Juliet contains dramatic irony. The best example of dramatic irony in the play is in Act 5 when Romeo sees Juliet and thinks that she is dead because of the potion she took earlier that day to make her appear dead. Romeo sees this and then stabs himself and when Juliet wakes up and sees that Romeo has killed himself she then commits suicide also.
