For the Spartiates (the Hoplite soldiers) at the head of the Spartan society to dedicate their lives to the feats of war, someone has to till the fields, forge the steel and harvest the crops. So for around 10,000 hoplites and their families they enslaved an enormous number of fellow Greeks including the entire population of Messenia after 2 bloody wars. They wanted a utopia to live in, and what better utopia than everybody doing the work for you! In order to keep the massively outnumbering slave population from revolting, young, highly trained Spartan boys ranging from around 13-16 roamed the countryside day or night, killing any helots (slaves) they met along the way. A reign of sheer terror was the underbelly of the Spartiates' utopia.
A slave would need qualities such as obedience, loyalty, resilience, and adaptability to survive and fulfill the demands placed upon them by their enslavers.
To work for them.

Slaves were brought to Philadelphia through the transatlantic slave trade, where they were forcibly transported from Africa to the colonies. Once in Philadelphia, they were sold at markets and auctions to plantation owners, wealthy individuals, and businesses in need of labor.
My High School Chemistry teacher was the wisest person at our school.
To develope the fighting skill at war to gain money and land and slave at war and to protect the city and to win most of their battles
The decimation of the native population of the Americas led to the importation of African slaves to work on plantations due to the growing need for labor. This laid the foundation for the transatlantic slave trade and the development of racially-based chattel slavery in the Americas.

Europeans needed African slave labor in the Americas to work on plantations and in mines, as the indigenous population was not numerous enough or resistant to diseases. The African slave trade provided a constant supply of labor for the growing colonial economies.
I'm not quite sure. I've been trying to figure that one out for ages!! This is what I do know:In 1619, the slave population was 20. They were all in Virginia. They had arrived in Jamestown. In 1750, there was a total slave population of 236, 420. In 1770, there were 462, 000 non freed slaves. In 1820 there were 1, 500, 000 (1.5 million) and in 1850 there were 3, 200, 000 (3.2 million). I don't suppose you know the slave population for 1670, 1900. I also need 1700. Hope this helps. Sorry I couldn't answer your question completely.
i have no idea how... i need this answer for homework....
Sparta had a limited warrior population, and it faced the ongoing implaccable hostility of Argos, and sporadically clashed with Mantinea and other cities in the Peloponnese. There was also the continual risk of revolt by its serfs who outnumbered its citizens by 7 to 1. It therefore needed alliances to neutralise potential adversaries and gain support from others better disposed to Sparta. This need grew when it suffered losses in wars and its military capability shrank, and it was variously opposed by Athens, Thebes and Macedonia.
Sparta boys had to be strong because in b.c the Athen and the spartas were always at war so they need to know how to fight.
Sparta had the strongest soldiers in Greece. It had no walls because they believe a city with warriors like the Spartans did not need city walls.
