Water is a relatively good conductor of heat. I said "relatively" because it depends on what you compare it with. To show that it is a bad conductor of heat, you need to compare it with something that is even better conductor of heat (i.e. metal).

What you can do:

Use 2 fresh ice cubes that are similar in size. Put one inside a cup of water in room temperature. Wrap the other one with aluminium foil. Observe and you will see that the one that is wrapped with aluminium foil melts faster.

How would you show that water is not a good conductor of heat?

A test tube is filled with tap water (about 25oC). An ice block is placed in the test tube and is kept at the bottom of the test tube by means of a wire gauze. Next (without delaying too much since the ice block would melt completely!), the test tube is bent and the upper end of the test tube placed in a Bunsen flame. It is found that the water at the upper end boils before the ice block melts. This shows that water is a poor conductor of heat.

Give an experiment to show that air a bad conductor of heat?

You can conduct an experiment by heating a metal rod at one end and touching it to a balloon filled with air. The balloon will not pop immediately because air is a poor conductor of heat, so the heat does not transfer quickly enough to cause the balloon to burst.

Can a water slide produce thermal energy with friction?

Yes, a water slide can produce thermal energy through friction. As riders slide down the slide, the friction between their bodies and the slide surface generates heat energy. This heat energy increases the temperature of the slide and the water running down it.

What does a conductor do after the performance?

After a performance, a conductor typically thanks the musicians, takes a bow with the orchestra, and sometimes acknowledges the audience by waving or applauding. They might also meet with soloists or other guest artists to show appreciation and discuss the performance.

What lamp will show invisible heat radiation?

An infrared lamp will show invisible heat radiation. Infrared lamps emit infrared light, which is not visible to the human eye but can be felt as heat due to its longer wavelength compared to visible light.

Do you have any suggested science activity for heat transfer can you provide examples?

To show heat transfer all you need to do is heat up a substance. Like a beaker of water. To show the heat transfer, bring the water to boiling. While doing that measure the temperature of the water to show that the temp is increasing. This is a VERY simple activity. You could also let some ice melt as you take temperature readings, showing that heat was transferred from the air into the water.

Why methylcinide show exothermic reaction with water?

Because it is its property to release heat when it reacts with water.

What property of the water most likely change after the teacher added the sugar?

Well, if you adding sugar to a beaker of distilled water, then you will find that the water is now a conductor of electricity. You can show this with a conductivity tester.

Which processes of the water cycle show heat being added and which ones show heat beign removed?

How the water cycle and heat are related: Adding or subtracting heat makes the water cycle work. If heat is added to ice, it melts. If heat is added to water, it evaporates. Evaporation turns liquid water into a gas called water vapour. As water goes through its cycle, it can be a solid (ice), a liquid (water), or a gas (water vapour). Ice can change to become water or water vapour. Water can change to become ice or water vapour. Water vapour can change to become ice or water. If heat is taken away from water vapour, it condenses. Condensation turns water vapour into a liquid. If heat is taken away from liquid water, it freezes to become ice. The water cycle involves the sun heating the Earth's surface water and resulting in the surface water evaporating. The water vapour rises into the Earth's atmosphere. The water cools and condenses into liquid droplets. The droplets grow until they are heavy and fall to the earth as precipitation (which can be rain, freezing rain or snow).

What sHow is the water pump is bad on a car?

After running your car for 20 minutes or so ,and there is coolant in the radiator, you will get no heat.

Characteristics of metal are?

Good conductor of heat and electricity.Malleable and ductile.Metals show mettalic lusters.Usually found in solid state but cesium, gallium and mercury exist in liquid state. They are hard and bonded together by metallic bond.

Which substances will show the smallest change in temperature when equal amounts of energy are absorbed?

Substances with high specific heat capacities, such as water, will show the smallest change in temperature when equal amounts of energy are absorbed. This is because these substances can absorb a lot of heat energy without a significant increase in temperature.

What experiment would you use to show water holds heat?

use equal amounts of soil and water, two pans of the same size, an oven, and a thermometer.
