How are transparent and translucent alike?

Transparent means you can easily see through something, such as your window. Translucent is a substance which allows light to pass through but you can not make out any clear images. Like an empty pop bottle.

Transparent materials allow light to pass through without distortion, while translucent materials allow some light to pass through but scatter it in different directions, making the material appear blurry.
