Vampires are extremely strong! They have rock hard skin and muscular bodies. The only thing known for destroying a vampire is another vampire. The only thing capable of peircing the skin is other vampire teeth. The only way to kill a vampire is to tear them into peices and then burn them. If not burned they will reassembly themselves. Vampires are immortal because of how strong they are!

This is only true in Twilight vampires. In old folklore, vampires were not any stronger or faster than a human. They were however immortal, had unnatural heal properties, and they possessed shapeshifting abilities. They often had mind powers. They usually were quite handsome as well. They can be killed by wooden stakes made from hawthorne, ash, or oak, they can be prevented by garlic and religious symbols. Fire can kill them, and drowning can kill them, along with decapitation. Silver has no effect regardless of what some think. Also vampires almost always corpses, unless they were to shapeshift into something other than their normal form, although they usually turn into animals such as the screech owl, barn owl, wolf, or perhaps a bat. This is all primarily only true of European folklore. In Asian folklore, (which I'm less informed on) the vampires usually looked like winged monsters (Aswang) or hopping Zombies (Jiang Shi).
