No, an hypothesis is a tentative conjecture explaining an observation, phenomenon or scientific problem that can be tested by further observation, investigation and/or experimentation. As a scientific term of art, see the attached quotation. Compare to theory, and quotation given there.

No a hypothesis must be tested, proven to be true

No. A hypothesis is a best guess based on available information and observation.

A scientific hypothesis would be an example of faith. A fact is something that you can prove to be true, and faith is something that you believe in strongly. A hypothesis is something that you think will happen...or that you predict...which is therefore not a fact+

No, it is far from true. A hypothesis is simply an idea of what might be an explanation. Scientists will make predictions based on a hypothesis, carry out an experiment to check whether or not those predictions come true. If the predictions do come true then the hypothesis gains more credibility - and awaits further tests. If not, the hypothesis is wrong and needs to be tweaked or discarded.

How are law and theory related?

A scientific theory is an idea that is supported by a hypothesis. Once the theory is proven to be permanently correct, it is a law or fact.

Is a hypothesis a fact or prediction?

A hypothesis is a prediction.

Why is gravity an example of scientific law?

A scientific law is not a law in the sense that it must be obeyed. It is a law by virtue of the fact that no one has yet found an instance where the law does not hold. A scientific law, despite its apparent immutability, is still only a theory and can never be proven since, as Karl Popper demonstrated, one can make observe a thousand swans and then make a law saying that all swans are white, but the first example of a black swan will invalidate that law.Gravity follows this example in that no one has yet found an instance where the universal law of gravitation has not held true, but that does not mean that in some distant corner of the universe or some billion years in the past or future the law of gravitation must hold true.

How can quarks change flavors when they are elementary?

"Elementary" in this context means that they are not known to be made up of smaller particles. It doesn't mean they can't undergo changes. You can think of the flavors as different excitation states of the same particle - comparable to different vibration modes on the same string. In fact, according to string theory (which is not really a scientific theory yet - more a hypothesis), the fundamental structures in the Universe ARE a type of string, and the different vibration modes of those strings are what gives them their different properties.

What is difference from scientific law and scientific theory?

A scientific law is a proven, verifiable fact or formula that doesn't change. that are considered universal and invariable facts of the physical worldFor example Newton's law of relativity and Newton's law of gravity.Laws of science may, however, be disproved if new facts or evidence contradicts them.iA hypothesis is a proposed explanation for an observable phenomenonFor a hypothesis to be put forward as a scientific hypothesis, the scientific method requires that one can test it. Scientists generally base scientific hypotheses on previous obserations that cannot satisfactorily be explained with the available scientific theories.

What are the example usages of hypothesis in sentences?

A hypothesis just needs a little proof in order to become an accepted fact. That's a fine hypothesis, Smedley!

Is a scientific hypothesis accepted if there is no way to demonstrate the hypothesis wrong?

A scientific hypothesis is not accepted if there is no way to demonstrate the hypothesis wrong. In fact, if there is no way to demonstrate the hypothesis wrong, then it is unfalsifiable and unscientific. For example, if I hypothesize that an all-powerful being created the Universe, there is no way to demonstrate that this hypothesis is wrong. One might argue that none of the natural laws of science require the intervention of an all-powerful being, but then I would simply argue that is because the being designed things that way. Because I can come up with any unfalsifiable explanation for any objection not only is there no way to demonstrate that my hypothesis is wrong, there is also no scientific reason or evidence to believe it is right.

What is a scientific Theory and how is it different then a hypothesis or a scientific law?

A scientific theory is an experiment that still needs to be tested, but is believed to be true. A hypothesis is a fact and data based guess as to what the result(s) of an experiment will be. A scientific law is proven to be true and states that the results of the experiment will always be the same, and needs no further testing. An example of a scientific theory is the cell theory, which states that all living things are composed of at least one cell and that cells come from other cells.

Is theory a fact?

well, a theory is a general idea about something,so i do not think so.*A theory is a hypothesis well accepted by the scientific community. So I wouldn't think it was a fact considering a hypothesis is an educated guess.

How a scientific theory different from a conclusion?

Because a conclusion indicates that it is no longer a theory, but a proven fact. A theory is an unproven hypothesis.

Why don't all hypothesis become theories?

A scientific theory is something that is tried and tested, and not yet disproven. It is close to being scientific 'fact' as you can get. Not all hypotheses will become theories because sometimes they get disproven. That means the hypothesis will need to be changed and tested again.

How theory and laws related?
