Well, no matter what, our mass would be the same where ever you go. Matter cannot be created or destroyed. Theres no way that you could just lose a little mass simply by going to the moon, its impossible.

Since the balance depends on gravity being equal on both sides of the arm, the actual value of gravity is not important. Hence the reading of the balance is the same on earth as well as on moon.

Because mass is not the same as weight. A 1kg mass weights 1kg on the moon, the sun, and on earth. On earth a 1kg mass would weigh 2.2 lbs. On the moon it would weigh less and on the sun more.

Long story short, mass and weight are two different measurements but often interchanged.
Why do you ask ? Do you think it should change ?

Consider these quantities:

-- the object's length

-- the object's color

-- the amount of beer in a sealed can

-- the number of oxygen atoms in the astronaut's backup tank

-- the size of the Golf balls he brought with him to the moon

-- the amount of change in the pocket of his space suit

None of those quantities changes just because it's on the moon,

and neither does the astronaut's mass.

The only thing that changes on the moon is an object's weight. Weight has nothing to do with mass.
mass has to do with the amount of physical matter you are made up of, the amount of space you take up. your mass never changes because you don't lose matter if you were to go to the moon.
Your mass (amount of matter) does not change. What changes is your weight due to the difference in gravity.
