If it's an average sized rocket, you can make a parachute from a plastic grocery bag. Place a dinner plate upside down and cut or trace a line around it. Cut this circle and attach 4 or 6 x 24 inch pieces of thread to it with scotch tape. Now just tie the loose ends in a knot and attach it to the elastic that goes from rocket body to nose cap. Now your rocket will float down after it's journey into the sky.
