The half life of a sample is the time in which the sample decays to half its mass. It depends only on the material(to be exact on its decay constant) and not the quantity .Hence, the half life of the sample remains the same.

A substance is the time required for half the atoms in a sample of a radioactive isotope to decay?

The time it takes for half the sample to decay is called the half-life.The time it takes for half the sample to decay is called the half-life.The time it takes for half the sample to decay is called the half-life.The time it takes for half the sample to decay is called the half-life.

As a sample of a radioactive element decays its half-life?

No, the half life remains exactly the same throughout

The half-life of an isotope is the time required for half the nuclei in a sample to?

Half-life is the length of time required for half the atoms in a radioactive sample to decay to some other type of atom. It is a logarithmic process, i.e. in one half-life, there is half the sample left, in two half-lives there is one quarter the sample left, in three half-lives there is one eight left, etc. The equation is... AT = A0 2 (-T/H) ... where A is activity, T is time, and H is half-life.

How much of the original sample will be left at the end of the second day if a sample of radioactive isotope has a half life of 1 day?

Hi, Each half-life means the mass of the sample has decreased by 1/2 its mass. Thus; After 1 half-life, 1/2 the sample has decayed. After 2 half-lives 3/4 of the sample has decayed. Hope this helps.

What happens to frequency when you double wavelength?

The product of (frequency) times (wavelength) is always the same number. (It happens to be the speed of the wave.) So if one of them doubles, the other one gets decreased by half.

If a half life is 2000 years will a large amount of this radioactive sample be around for a long time?

Half-life of 2000 years means that after 2000 years, half of the sample will decay - so of course the other half of the sample is still around.Half-life of 2000 years means that after 2000 years, half of the sample will decay - so of course the other half of the sample is still around.Half-life of 2000 years means that after 2000 years, half of the sample will decay - so of course the other half of the sample is still around.Half-life of 2000 years means that after 2000 years, half of the sample will decay - so of course the other half of the sample is still around.

What happens if we sample the signal at sampling frequency nearer to signal frequency?

If you sample at more than the Nyquist frequency (one half the signal frequency) you introduce an aliasing distortion, seen as sub harmonics.
