A detent mechanism is used to hold an object in a specific position or prevent unwanted movement. It provides tactile feedback to indicate when a certain position has been reached, such as in gear shifts or volume controls. This helps improve precision and user experience in various mechanical systems.
The work done by the child on the spring is equal to the potential energy stored in the spring. If all of this potential energy is then transferred to the ball as kinetic energy, the kinetic energy of the ball would also be 5.0 J.
A spring latch is a type of door latch that uses a spring-loaded mechanism to keep the door closed. When the door is shut, the latch automatically engages a strike plate, securing the door in place. To open the door, you simply turn the handle or knob which compresses the spring and releases the latch mechanism.
The force in a clock is controlled by the weight or spring mechanism that powers the clock's movement. This force is regulated by gears and escapements to ensure accurate timekeeping. By adjusting the weight or tension in the spring, the clock's mechanism can be fine-tuned to keep time accurately.
The pull back car mechanism in toy cars works by winding up a spring when the car is pulled back. When released, the spring rapidly unwinds, transferring energy to the wheels and propelling the car forward.
The main difference between pin detent and friction ring mechanisms in impact wrenches is how the socket is attached to the tool. In a pin detent mechanism, a spring-loaded pin secures the socket in place, providing a more secure connection but requiring a tool to remove the socket. In a friction ring mechanism, a ring holds the socket in place through friction, allowing for quick socket changes but potentially leading to looser connections.
Yes, that is where the recoil spring goes, push down on the detent and shove the spring into the tube
lift bolt handle reteive bolt but just before you get bolt all the way back pull trigger and the bolt will slip free of the action. Addition: The Model 1920 has two mechanisms that the bolt must pass to allow bolt removal. The sear (attached to the trigger) releases the striker, and is also the primary bolt stop. The second bolt stop is a detent ball and spring positioned in the left side receiver bolt rail. Some users would/will carry the rifle slung over their shoulder, with bolt open. The trigger does not need much pressure to release the bolt. The detent is an added feature to prevent bolt loss in the field. The bolt engages the detent after it clears the sear during removal. In normal operation, the detent is properly lubricated, and a light tug will cause the left bolt lug to force the ball down and allow the bolt to come free of the rifle. Many users do not even notice the added pressure of the detent ball bolt stop during bolt removal. Given an 85+ year old rifle, sometimes the detent ball will rust, stick to the receiver, or otherwise not retract into its recess. After you lift the handle, retract the bolt, and pull the trigger to release (sear clears bolt), if the bolt does not slide free of the receiver with a moderate tug to pass over the detent, then the detent may be frozen. If you can not get the bolt to clear the detent with reasonable backward pressure on the bolt handle, to prevent damage, recommended that you take rifle to a competant gunsmith for cleaning or repair of bolt stop (detent ball, spring and detent recess).

A spring loaded ball detent holds the barrel/"cylinder" in place. Place your fingers on each side of the "cylinder" and push it out the right side with a rolling motion to open the action.
Find a good gunsmith or buy a book on Model 12 repair.
There should be a small ball type stud that is connected to the throttle linkage, beyond the throttle cable. The detent cable should push into that ball and stay fit there. Make sure you have the correct holding bracket for the detent cable and adjust the cable after installing if need be.
If in a well replace it as it is worn out. If something was stuck in it set the ball on the seat and the spring on the ball to push ball to seat, then the ball retainer. Pressure should push the ball open and the spring should close the ball. (make sure all the spring is there)
Unscrew the end cap on the stock fore-end. slide out the barrel. slide off the fore arm. punch out the two pins holding the trigger assembly. slide out the trigger assembly. remove the charging handle by pulling out as it is only held by a detent spring and ball. push in on the end of the tube opposite the stock end until the detent on the rails matches up to the small cutout on the tube. pull up on the rail and that releases the gas tube assembly and spring. press in on the spring plate that the bolt assembly runs into as your sliding it out of the receiver and the bolt and rail assembly will slide out. clean and reassemble. No lube in the gas tube area.
The safety is held in place by a small detent plunger and spring. repair@countrygunsmith.net
