Plasma is a gas where the "temperature" is so high that all the electrons have been removed from the atoms, leaving just the positively charged nuclei and free electrons. There can be no molecules in a plasma as without electrons the bare atomic nuclei repel each other.

What is the difference between ionized gas and plasma?

Ionized gas and plasma are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference between the two. Ionized gas refers to a gas in which some of the atoms or molecules have lost or gained electrons, resulting in charged particles. Plasma, on the other hand, specifically refers to a state of matter in which a significant portion of the particles are ionized, leading to unique properties such as conductivity and the ability to respond to electromagnetic fields. In essence, all plasmas are ionized gases, but not all ionized gases are considered plasmas.

What are 5 different types of plasmas?

Thermal plasma: ionized gas at very high temperatures, commonly used in industrial applications like welding and cutting. Nonthermal plasma: ionized gas at lower temperatures, often used in environmental applications like air purification. Astrophysical plasma: ionized gas found in stars, interstellar space, and galaxies, playing a key role in the universe's dynamics. Magnetized plasma: ionized gas influenced by magnetic fields, important in controlled fusion research and space physics. Laser-induced plasma: ionized gas created by a laser pulse, used in various fields including spectroscopy and material processing.

The state of matter that can fill any volume is?

It is gas and well it can also be plasma but as you know plasma is also a form of gas(ionized) so let`s go with gas

How does a plasma ball light a bullb?

The plasma ball contains a gas mixture, which is ionized by the high voltage applied to the glass sphere. The ionized gas creates plasma filaments that conduct electricity, allowing the energy to travel to the center of the sphere and interact with a light bulb placed there, causing it to light up.

How is plasma different from the other states of matter?

Plasma is a state of matter where atoms are ionized, resulting in a mixture of free electrons and positively charged ions. This makes plasma electrically conductive, unlike the other states of matter. Plasma is commonly found in stars, lightning, and neon lights.
