Propylthiouracil (PTU) is an anti-thyroid medication that inhibits the production of thyroid hormones by interfering with the conversion of T4 to T3 in the periphery. In hypophysectomized individuals (those without a pituitary gland), PTU may still be effective in reducing thyroid hormone levels, as it acts at the level of the thyroid gland, independent of pituitary function.

The packing gland
To change the gland packing of a pump, first, ensure the pump is shut down and depressurized. Remove the gland nuts and the old packing material from the stuffing box. Clean the area thoroughly, then cut new packing to the appropriate length, wrapping it around the shaft without overlaps. Finally, reassemble the gland, tightening the nuts evenly to create a proper seal without excessive pressure on the packing.
Gland packing is tightened to stop a gland from leaking. As the gland is tightened, the packing is pressed tighter and the gland will stop leaking.
The answer is 0.95 and how you figure it out is you take the stuffing box bore (8.6) minus the pump shaft diameter (6.7) which equals 1.9. you than divide that number by 2 which equals 0.95 so 0.95 is the size of your packing!
