∙ 13y agoAluminum wire can be used with caution in treating the connections so they don't corrode. Many metals will conduct electricity.
What gets used is based upon economics as well as conductivity or the ability to carry a certain current load for a certain size wire.
Gold is the best conductor but is expensive. Silver is next in line. Copper and aluminum are the most cost effective and allow ample current to pass for a given size of wire.
