because 1 ton is the amount of heat that could melt 1 ton of ice(2000lb) in 24 hours ex. it takes 144 btu of heat energy to mellt 1lb of ice at 32F.

144btu/lb x 2000lb = 288000 btu < thats how many btus it takes to melt 1 ton of ice in 24 hours

if an a/c has a 1 ton capacity it will remove 288000 btu/24hr or 12000btu/h

im in a/c school right now i learned this stuff a lil while ago

Why ac is measured in tonns?

The unit of measurement "ton" in air conditioning relates to the cooling capacity of an air conditioning system. One ton of cooling capacity is equivalent to the amount of heat needed to melt one ton (2000 pounds) of ice in a 24-hour period. It provides a convenient way to compare and categorize the cooling capacity of different air conditioning systems.

How many cfm per ton of ac?

Air conditioning systems typically require 350-450 CFM (cubic feet per minute) per ton of cooling capacity. This means a 2-ton AC unit would need around 700-900 CFM of airflow for optimal performance. It is important to ensure proper airflow for efficiency and comfort.

What weighs more a ton of feathersa ton of bricks or a ton?

There are three measurements referred to as "ton" -Short ton (2,000 lbs.)Long ton (2,240 lbs.)Metric ton (or tonne, 1,000 kg./2204.6226218 lbs.)Assuming all three substances are measured in the same type of ton, they would all weigh the same - a ton is a unit of weight, not of density or area.

How many kva required for 1 ton and 2.5 ton split ac?

A ton of refrigeration is equal to the cooling power of one short ton (2000 pounds or 907 kilograms) of ice melting in a 24-hour period. The value is defined as 12,000 BTU per hour, or 3517 watts. A 2-ton ac represents 7034 watts of power, but a practical unit would require more electrical power than that, maybe 10 kW to be safe.
