during a vote!(:
It is what it sounds like- the roll is called and each member of the assembly answers with his vote when his name is called. This procedure makes it possible to get an exact count of the vote as opposed to a voice vote.
A voice vote means that some one asked for a vote and people then said out loud yes or no.

A Voice Vote
Because they didn't have any paper ballots, they decided to choose their candidate by taking a voice vote. [In a student organization, for example, the chairperson might state the particular issue to be voted on, and then take a voice vote. He or she would ask "All in favor, say aye." And then, "All opposed, say nay (or no)." Whichever side won, the chair would announce the result.]
