Plum trees can grow up to 20-25 feet tall and wide. Factors that can influence their size include the variety of plum tree, soil quality, amount of sunlight, water availability, and pruning practices.
About 20 feet? That is 6 meters
Yes, with the right cultivar and planting site
No, flowering plum trees do not produce fruit.
You can't go past a plum tree. They can grow to 9m tall and 7m wide. (Smaller with pruning.) They have lovely white flowers and the plums are not particularly messy but do require gathering when fallen. They take about 3-6 years to fruit. Spraying large trees for fruit fly can be difficult. The bark is rough and do not make for good climbing. This feature can be useful to prevent children from wanting to climb them. There are dwarf varieties available that also provide shade but will usually only grow to about 2m tall. They are deciduous trees (lose leaves in winter) which is useful if the shade is only required in summer.Matthew, Beckenham, Western Australia

Fig, peach, persimmon, pear, plum, apple (limited varieties), pomegranate, pawpaw. Best peach variety for central Louisiana-LaFeliciana. We have a peach orchard and this variety far out-produces the others. Best plum variety for central Louisiana-Methley.
Plums grow best in areas where rainfall occasionally falls during the summer and the humidity stays low. Dry leaves and fruit during the growing season discourage plant disease. Most plant diseases attack plum trees when the weather is wet for an extended period of time. Plum trees are temperate fruit trees and need chilling to produce fruit. Basically, chilling hours breaks down into how many hours after the leaves fall off the plum trees are the trees exposed to 45 degree Fahrenheit or low temperatures during the winter. In cold winter areas, this is not an issue, but in mild winter locations it can prevent the developing of a yearly plum crop. Picking plum tree varieties with low chilling hours helps with producing a successful harvest.
Flowering plum trees do not produce fruit because they are ornamental trees that are primarily grown for their beautiful flowers rather than for fruit production. If you are looking to grow fruit, you may want to consider planting a different type of fruit tree such as a plum tree specifically bred for fruit production.
