Propagation of Strophanthun

Successful propagation of strophanthun is done through seeds and softwood cuttings. Seeds obtain almost 100% germination at 72 to 75 degrees F. in Sphagnum moss that has been finely ground, but can be germinated in other mediums. Cuttings from the softwood of the plants can be placed in sterile sand or other rooting material to develop roots. Cuttings should be in a high humidity area and the rooting medium must never be allowed to dry out or be overwatered. Dipping the cuttings in a product that helps to encourage the formation of roots is suggested before placing them in the rooting medium. To check for the formation of roots, after roots have had time to form, gently pull on the cutting. If roots have formed, the cutting will resist.
