Fraxinus velutina is the scientific, Latin or binomial name for the Arizona ash tree.

The North American native is found in the southwestern United States. It also is found naturally in northern Mexico from Baja California east into Coahuila and Nuevo León. But wherever it is found, it is known for its fissured, rough, gray-brown bark, velvety shoots, and fall color.
