When planting a tree crop, it is essential that you dig down at least three feet to understand the stratification that may have occurred in the area. This also reduces soil compactness, allows for removal of large rocks which may hinder a tap root, and allows access the native chemical composition .

Good amount of organic matter, middle-of-the-road in terms of water retention and porousness, loamy matter, neutral pH or not too acidic nor alkaline, has poor salinity, not overly rocky, smooth to flat terrain, etc.
