Very little in Chicago. It was mostly filmed at the Burbank Studios and the Burbank Studios' Ranch (exteriors); with some scenes (sledding, shopping with Eddie, tree finding) filmed around Breckenridge, CO. I was there for most of it, but not in Chicago.

The scene in "The Alamo" with John Wayne admiring a large tree was filmed at the actual Alamo Mission in San Antonio, Texas. The tree in question is known as the "Wishing Tree" and it is still standing in the Alamo courtyard today. The tree holds historical significance as it is believed that soldiers stationed at the Alamo during the famous battle would touch or lean against it for good luck before going into battle.
