It grew out of African American traditions.
Epics are usually stories that have been passed down for generations. Since people have migrated all over the world, so have their tales, leading stories to change and many to sound similar. Two epics that are from different countries but seem veru similar are The Odyssey and Sundiata.
People's lives share the same basic structure.
If someone tells you that rap has roots in African American experiences, but epic poetry is based on Greek and Roman cultures, they are really ignorant and very wrong. Epic poetry is found in all cultures, going back to the Epic of Gilgamesh in ancient Mesapotamia. Beowulf is an Old English epic. African Africans have lots of oral epics such as Lianja. Rap is not epic poetry because it does not tell a story of a supernaturally great hero. The only reason that there are no African American epics is that nobody has got around to writing one yet.
it is simmilar because its a type of musiq
Aesop is important because he wrote great fables.
ramayana ,mahabharath, vedas all are Indian epics
There are two main types of epics: primary/primary epics and secondary/secondary epics. Primary epics are considered to be of oral tradition and are usually of unknown authorship, such as the "Epic of Gilgamesh" or the "Iliad." Secondary epics are literary epics, consciously imitating the traditional form of primary epics, such as "The Aeneid" or "Paradise Lost."
