Eleanor describes how Odysseus climbed on Circe's roof to watch the plunders. While on the roof, Odysseus heard the voice of the Sirens in the distance, which tempted him with the promise of knowledge and experience.
Elpenor was buried in the Odyssey. This happened from Odysseus going to the Land of the Dead to talk to Tiresias the blind prophet and instead meeting Elpenor the poor soul that got drunk and fell of Circe's roof and died. He asked for Odysseus when he got back to Circes house to burn his body and all his armor, and make a memorial of him by the beach with his oar sticking out on top. xD
He and his men burnt the body of Elpenor While at Circes for the first time they all eat and drink, but Elpenor drinks too much and falls asleep on the roof and when he wakes up in the morning he falls off and dies. Odysseus then travels to the underworld and sees Elpenors soul among the others, after asking him how he died Elpenor asks him to go back to Aeaea and to perform funeral rites for him.

The first soul Odysseus encounters in the Underworld is that of Elpenor, one of his crew members who died accidentally by falling from Circe's roof. Elpenor asks Odysseus to return to Circe's island to give him a proper burial, as he had not received one before his soul departed. He expresses regret over his untimely death and seeks closure for his spirit.

The day before Odysseus and his men are to leave the island, Elpenor gets very drunk, and falls asleep on the roof of Circe's house. When he awakes in the morning, he forgets he is on the roof and falls off of it, breaking his neck and killing himself. Elpenor ends up meeting Odysseus and the crew in the underworld later, and asks Odysseus to bury his body properly and put his oar atop his grave.
He sees his comrades from the Trojan war, or was it the guy that fell off the roof at Circe's place? or both...
