The point of view is third person limited. Faulkner tells the story of Emily through the use of the hearsay and gossip of the townspeople. The third person also never attempts in any way to understand or sympathize with Emily. It is very intrusive about her strange life, her relations, and her diversities. This and the fact that the death of the protagonist comes first in the story (usually the death of the protagonist is the climax) leads me to believe that Faulkner intentionally wanted to create a distance between Emily and the reader.
The point of view of the story is that of the first person plural. It seems as though the townspeople themselves are telling the story. Since the story stretches over three generations, the author gives the impression that the events in the story are interpreted by the entire society of the post Civil War south.
Rose tells the story therefore it is her point of view
how did Emily die in the story "A Rose for Emily"
The point of view in 'A Rose for Emily' is that of the first person, or perhaps more accurately, first persons, since the narrator is not a single person. The narrator uses the plural 'we" so it is obvious that the "narrator" is actually perhaps the town itself speaking as one.
The narration and point of view in 'A Rose for Emily' is that of the first person plural. The narration done this way makes it seem as if the townspeople themselves are telling the story. Since the story spans three generations of townspeople, the narrator can be seen as post Civil War society in general telling the story.
The epitaph on Emily Rose's headstone in the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" read: "In Loving Memory of Emily Rose - May the angels lead you into paradise."
