A well-educated citizenry is extremely beneficial for any community. Educated people are less likely to commit crimes (creating lower crime rates) and are generally more healthy than those who have less education. Also, educated citizens are more likely to have jobs and are therefore less likely to draw on social services that are costly to the community. If a community educates its citizens and the citizens have jobs, communities can also benefit from increased tax revenue from the working class. Lastly, education can create a community of thoughtful citizens who are active and well-informed in political matters, and are therefore more prepared to make educated decisions.

How might absentee ownership of tourist facilities undermine democracy in a tourist country?

Absentee ownership of tourist facilities can lead to a lack of local control and influence over key decisions that affect the community, such as pricing, employment practices, and environmental policies. This can result in a loss of economic benefits for the local population and weaken their ability to shape the development of their own community. Furthermore, absentee owners may prioritize profit over the well-being of the local community, leading to increased economic inequality and social tensions.
