Yes it takes time to become regular again, that is if you have gotten your period yet. It can take any where from a month to two years before you even get your fist period. Depo Provera stays in your system longer than three months time actually. I have been on and off the shot for six years and the first two times I went off it I received my period within the first two months, and I was on the shot for a year or more. This time I was only on it for nine months got my last shot Feb 05 and surprise I still have no period and it's Nov 06. It depends on the person when they will get there period and regulat. Hope this helps. Yes it takes time to become regular again, that is if you have gotten your period yet. It can take any where from a month to two years before you even get your fist period. Everyone is different. I've been off the depo shot for a little over a year & I've been getting regular periods for the past 9 months. The first couple months you might spot on & off , but usually within 3 months it should be back to normal .. now how long does it take to ovulate after the depo? - that's a different question .. some people can't get pregnant until 2 years after depo , usually you will be put on birth control pills after to help things go back to normal easier .. good luck!
There is no antidote or way to reverse the effects of Depo-Provera after you've taken it besides time. If you wish to become pregnant or switch birth control methods tell your Dr and they will set up a plan for you. Fertility may take 1 to 12 months to return after stopping Depo-Provera.
