The President needs a lot of help. His cabinet runs 15 departments under his direction. He needs to appoint good people to do these jobs. He also has a White House staff to help him draw up a budget, manage relation with the press and public , write speeches and executives order and plan his administration. The joint chiefs of staff give military advice.
