Well it literally brought a near end to it but not quite. It was not till just after World War II that Colonialism died with a spatter. After World War I the Ottomans and Austrian-Hungarians and Russians all lost their empires. Only the British survived as an empire along with France but it was not a Monarchy anymore. The Middle East in particular was one region that was MAJORLY effected by this war. it saw the break up of the Ottomans and the Middle East divided between France and Britain as colonies for themselves after they had promised self rule via Lawrence of Arabia. The allies lied to the largely Shiite communities wanting to rebel from the Ottoman turks. Turkey and Iran were two lucky regions that did NOT get split up by the Allies as Syria and Iraq were.
