A Dictatorship is a country, government, or the form of government in which absolute power is exercised by one person. A democracy is basically power to the people. In a Dictatorship one person rules all but in a democracy people rule the people.
No, it would be a totalitarian.
Hitler knew that democracy would only hinder or prevent his plans.
The opposite of rule by the people would be a dictatorship, tyranny, or other form of absolute rule (over the people). An absolute monarchy could also qualify. In communism, the state would operate "for" the people, and would actually need elements of democracy to determine what was best for everyone. In practice, it usually consists of an open oligarchy by its executives (commissariat).
In a dictatorship, people do not have any power. In a democracy, there is an equal amount of power. In a dictatorship, you would not have any rights to say something against the dictator. In general, you don't have much of ANY rights at all in a dictatorship. In a democracy, we have TONS of rights! I can't think of another reason...check out wikipedia or something!
The opposite of dictatorship is Democracy. Democracy means you have more rights over and to things like Voting and Belief and Religion. with dictatorship you don't have those things. I'm not sure who gave the above answer but the are totally a wrong a dictatorship is form of government in place in countries who has one ruler and that ruler words or wishes is law! The USA. would be the opposite of a dictatorship
republic
I would say not really. But the bad democracy can progress where as the military rule will most likely become a terrible dictatorship and the democracy would (obviously) be better. This is my opinion.
A free market economy would be more likely to be found in a democracy rather than a totalitarian dictatorship because it is is a market in which there is no economic intervention and regulation by the state, except to enforce private contracts.
It would depend on the dictatorship, but generally, what would bother me most about living in such a society would be the inability to appeal to rights or laws beyond the malleability of the dictator or his bureaucracy.
Benevolent dictatorship, personally, but some people would see that as a violation of their "right to democracy". Failing that, I would select traditional democracy as it was originally founded and intended to be used by the Greeks that created it.
You live in a democracy and without it you would be living in another form of government.
The form of government in which people have the ultimate power is called a democracy. The opposite would be a dictatorship.
