The concept of America as an "Imperial Democracy" suggests a tension between democratic ideals and imperialistic practices. From its inception, the United States exhibited elements of democracy, such as the establishment of a constitution and the promotion of individual rights. However, it also engaged in imperialistic actions, such as territorial expansion through the Louisiana Purchase, the annexation of Texas, and the displacement of Native Americans. These dual characteristics indicate that while America was founded on democratic principles, it simultaneously embraced imperialistic tendencies that would shape its evolution.
Democracy is very rare on the continents of Africa and Asia (between these continents, you have over 100 countries and roughly a dozen are democracies). Democracy is present in Latin America in name, but in many cases, there is an extraordinary level of corruption, which derails the democracy. Democracy is only really present in Europe, North America, and Australia/Oceania.
People really effect Democracy. So BAD......
democracy does not really exist
yup
Greece invented democracy and really how did you not know that LOL
The first country to establish participatory democracy is the United States of America. The second country do this too was France. They're not really a true democracy but there isn't any country, today nor has there ever been (except for Greece that had votes for every single issue that came up), with a true, full democracy. Although, the first civilization to have a democracy was Greece. Athens was the first city-state to establish a participatory democracy.
Really, moving to the America's was the beginning of the trouble between the Americans and Indians. But the proclamaiton of 1763 was pretty much the first really hurt, or the French and Indian War.
Democracy hasn't ever 'ended'. It has likely always existed somewhere.
Identify the subject: At the beginning of the film, the apes and chimps were really scary.
America's government during the revolutionary war was the First and Second Continnental Congress. Which was basically a committee of citizens including Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, and John Adams.
The Republic of Iraq (which only really controls half of the land area of the country) is officially a constitutional democracy, but it is a relatively illiberal democracy. Iraqi Kurdistan is also a constitutional democracy and less illiberal. ISIL is an outright dictatorship and considers democracy to be Anti-Islamic.
In a Represenitave Democracy, there is almost no absolute unity between poilical parties, thus there will always be arguing, which can get in the way of what really matters.
