One View:They are difficult to compare: a republic is a political system, communism is a political economy. Technically speaking they both suggest the same outcome, namely a society where political decisions reflect the interests and needs of the populace as a whole, but they start from different assumptions and take different approaches to achieve that end. No need to compare that which is already different from that. It is as obvious as anybody can get. The republic can be a so-called commonwealth properly constituted. Communism as the earliest form of government had little regard for privacy, if any. 19 century philosophers revived it as an economic system whether privacy was an issue of constitutional make or not, it was less important for obvious reasons. Das capital or capitalism as an obvious substitute. And it is not over until the fat lady sings.

Numbers give better witness account in matters of difference. The distributed shares, bonds, savings certificates, etc. amount to a form a communism by which nobody gains greater capital sums than what the business afford in members. About the best that members can attribute to themselves is their current standard of living in relation to the job that they uphold and whichever other privileges are granted by an attained position if career minded.

Another Answer:In a Republic, the power is with the people. This form of government is set up to LIMIT the power the government has to prevent the peoples rights (understood to be given from God) from being taken away by the government. It is commonly excepted that this form of government has the freest people with the most rights. People have the freedom to make as much or as little money they wish. The free economy of the Republic rewards those that work harder or work smarter. Innovation comes from the people since it is rewarded financially.

In Communism, the power is with the government. Whatever rights the people have are those given to them by the government. God is often outlawed due to most religions challenging the notion that people's rights are given by the government and not God. In Communism the government has control over who can own what and where you work or live. Some Communist governments will allow some freedom in this, but always reserve the right to take that freedom away. The goal of Communism is to try to do everything for the common good, even if it means placing a hardship on some to help others. Most Communist governments start with the idea of trying to make an ideal society. However, history has proved that the absolute power that Communism gives its leaders is easily corruptible and becomes self serving rather than serving the people.

BloodyCole's Answer.

Republics believe that the world should have multiple leaders (Presidents Etc. Etc.) and that the public can speak for themselfs they believe in a free country while Communists believe the world should be ruled by one man, One man to speak for hes people, One man to take action, One man to decide what everyone should do Communists who have power are easily corrupted my advice do not a communist if you do not want to be bossed around, Me i am a communist but i believe if one man rules, If one man speaks for the people more Civilization and order can be issued, But hey... that's what i Believe.
