The US is a nation of some 300,000,000 people who do not all share the same fears; whether the US as a nation can be said to be afraid of anything is not clear. It would be more reasonable to ask, what are Americans generally worried about. Current issues on the minds of Americans include terrorism, crime, the national debt and the continuing high levels of deficits on all levels of government (federal, state, and municipal), unemployment, the recession, economic competition from China and other countries where labor costs are lower than they are in the US, antibiotic resistant diseases, illegal Immigration, global warming, declining fish stocks, and a world in which the rising population is going to be having a hard time obtaining basic requirements such as food and water.
