It was Henry VIII that had two of his six wives beheaded. The first to be executed was his second wife Anne Boleyn. Despite the birth of their daughter Elizabeth, Anne was unable to provide Henry with the male heir he desperately wanted. He eventually tired of her, and eventually trumped up charges of treason and witchcraft were brought against her. She was found guilty and beheaded by a swordsman on 19 May 1536. The next wife to be beheaded was Catherine Howard, Henry's fifth wife in 1542. She was actually a cousin of Anne Boleyn.
