Blanche K. Bruce
Henry Clay of Kentucky.
He might be, unless the economy improves significantly OR the Republicans nominate a radical to run against him.Time will tell.... but it is likely he is.Hopefully no. See the related question below for a list of the good things he has already done (and that is with a Congress actively trying to make him fail at every opportunity.)
The purpose of the national convention system is to bring together delegates from each state to nominate a candidate for the presidency of the United States. It serves as a platform for party members to discuss and determine the party's platform and select its presidential and vice-presidential nominees.
The Republicans would not support him. (This may or may not be the answer...Sorry)
A Democrat could run for the Democratic nomination against an incumbent Democratic President. This happened in 1980 , for example, when Ted Kennedy ran against President Carter. A democrat would not run on the same party lines as another Democrat since the Democratic party can only nominate one candidate themselves. So a third party could nominate a Democrat to run for president if that Democrat lost the Democratic nomination to someone else.
The Republicans would not support him. (This may or may not be the answer...Sorry)
Hayes ran only the one time , in 1876.
In 1872, Hayes lost his run for a seat in Congress. In 1876 he was elected President.

Pollsters indicate that he has lost popularity since he was elected in 2008 and the midterm elections were not good for his party. However he has almost two years to turn things around and the Republicans have not yet identified a candidate that can defeat him. If the old line Republicans prevail in the struggle with the new Tea Party movement and they nominate somebody like McCain, Obama will win again, but if they find an attractive candidate, Obama will have a run for his money.
