Who is the politcian who is the biggest con-artist?

These days it seems everybody is running neck and neck and to make such a conclusion would require a photo finish, slow motion replays and technical discernment to find a winner. Thomas Jefferson once wrote: "There is a certain amount of rottenness that enters into men who decide to go into politics." Jefferson himself tended to equivocate often and his Vice President Aaron Burr attempted a military coup with creating an empire of his own in mind, while he was the Vice President! In this little coup De tat one of his allies was Andrew Jackson who would later become President himself. While still vice president Aaron Burr shot and killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel!!

There were many politicians in Congress who conned the American people and the authors of the 16th Amendment are a good example. 1913 was a good year for con-artist politicians as the Federal Reserve Act created the Federal Reserve which effectively gave all of the United States gold to a handful of private bankers and allowed them to make the official money of the United States. The effect of that con job is felt today in painful ways and there are many politicians in Europe who effectively conned the Politicians in America into believing they would honor the "fiat money" agreement and then turned around and backed the Euro with gold. The dollar, of course, plummeted and the Euro became stronger.

More recently there is John McCain who pretends to be a Republican while demonstrating strong Democratic values. His one "Republican value" is his steadfast support for the war in Iraq. Barak Obama criticizes the judgment of John McCain and argues that experience is less a necessity than reasoned judgment but he himself continues to show poor judgment in his own life. Hillary Clinton will take whatever position that will get her the nomination. George W. Bush lied to Congress and the American public in order to lead the U.S. into war and colluded with Congress to create legislation that attempts to circumvent due process of law.

Before George W. Bush there was William Jefferson Clinton who was affectionately known as "Slick Willie" for his remarkable skill in con-artistry. This is the president who kept insisting he did not have sex with that woman long after everyone knew he was lying and he lied under oath. This President committed perjury for no good reason all of which directly led to his impeachment. Perhaps Obama and McCain aren't as effective with their con-artistry and don't belong in the Hall of Fame like the rest of these con-artist but give them time. The problem with naming the biggest con-artist politician is that it somehow implies some politicians aren't really con-artists. They all are, all the way down to state Insurance Commissioners which is an office that should be subtitled: "Office of Con Jobs and Shams."
