Fossil records indicate the main populations of woolly mammoths were in northern North America and northern Eurasia .

Answer

The Mammoth also lived in Siberia, Northern Europe.

They originated from northern Africa

The earliest mammoths lived in Africa, Europe and Asia about 5 million years ago. They lived throughout the Ice Age; most became extinct about 10,000 years ago, although some dwarf mammoths survived until nearly 4,000 years ago. Most likely, the combination of an increasingly warm climate and human hunting killed off the mammoths.

well my answer is they lived in places like their distant cousin the elephanet. in asia, europe, and western North America.

While on a US Corps of Engineers construction project in north Texas (Lake Ray Roberts) in Denton County, the contractor unearthed the remains of a wooly mammoth. The project was halted immediately and a group from University was brought in to investigate. They determined the remains were that of a wooly mammoth.
