they'd like to think they aren't but I feel as they have some views of a racist type nature. They also believe in a huge amount of stereotypes about other ethnicities based on false facts. I wouldn't exactly call them pure racists, but they sure aren't friendly to non-whites and come off as they think they are "better" than anyone who isn't "white". I wouldn't define them as the textbook definition of a racist, but I would say many of them are quite ignorant and misinformed.

No. It has nothing to do with being white. It's as simple as some people are racist and some aren't.

No, but that question sort of is more than a bit racist (in behavior--I'll explain).

Actually, every living person on the planet is racist. It is inescapable. Here's why:

We live our lives within our own skin. All we know is what we see and what we experience. If we are born Caucasian, we see everything with those eyes. If we are born Oriental, Hispanic, Aboriginal, Arabic, or any other ethnicity, that is how we view the world. To make this simple, think of racism as a form of egocentricity. What we know is what we are, and everything else in the world filters first through that.

Now, that being said, what we do with it is another matter. Often the reality and the behavior get confused. That is where the problem rises.

Racisim, the way we see the world, call it stranger awareness, is a natural human behavior. It is a natural animal behavior. If you are an evolutionist, then you will know that it is something we have had with us since our ancestors swung from trees. If you are a member of the other camp, well, we were just designed that way.

What we do with that stranger awareness is another thing altogether. Reacting in a negative way to anyone simply because of their appearance is the expression of racism. While the awareness of difference is a largely innocent condition, negative reaction to that awareness is an entirely different matter. To single out anyone based solely on their ethnicity is essentially the same as this question.

Sheets are white. Writing paper is white. Snow is white. The stars and six of the stripes of our flag are white. We are not white.
