Some white people did, the majority of people who discriminated against black people in that era did so, not out of hate but out of fear; fear of the unknown and fear of losing power to the black population.
In February 1909, the NAACP was was founded to bring legal and political power to bear against the discrimination endured by black Americans, the continuing horrific practice of lynching and the 1908 race riot in Springfield, Illinois. Many white Americans joined or supported this organization. The organization and the Civil Rights Movement had been working for many years by the time WWII ended in 1945 and the NAACP and many other organizations, most of which included whites, were ready to push the movement forward.

1945 was before civil rights, and not many generations away from the Civil War and slavery. Many of the white population were educated to see blacks as either property or scum.
Hate is taught and there were a lot of white people who were to taught to hate blacks and not let the black apple spoil the group of whites, basically known as White power. There was the KKK back then and KKK was white.
To say white people hated black people is going a bit far, many whites did look at the blacks as lesser people however.

First of all to make a sweeping statement like this is itself racist, it places all white men in 'one category' because of the color of their skin. Second, the statement is not true (despite what you may feel or may indeed have experienced). While it would be true to say that SOME white men hate black men, it would also be true to say that SOME black men hate white men and some black men hate other black men and some white men hate other white men. This is not to deny that racism exits and, for some reason (that I admit I do not understand) seems to be part of the human (black and white) psych. People are very adept (visually) at detecting if another person is like themselves or different and, if different, to treat them initially with suspicion. However, suspicion is not racism, racism occurs when people that are different are further viewed as inferior or worthless. The racist mindset then allows the racist to do things to 'people that are different' that they would never want to see done to their brother or sister. That people are different and indeed being different is a GOOD thing, differences make the world an interesting place to live in and when differences are RESPECTED, a multicultural society is a wonderful one to be a part of, it buzzes with life and energy.

it's not that white parents teach their kids to hate black people, you really have to go to the source of the problem.Black people really make normal contributing members of society uncomfortable, and every one of you that say "that's not true" go to church's chicken anywhere on a heavily populated part of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (every city has one, and blacks are always there), try to order something and eat there, and tell me how you feel then.So in conclusion, white parents don't teach their kids to hate black people, black people have such a negative impression/impact ALL OVER THE WORLD that society in general has done years of analysis and extrapolation to determine ongoing trends of black behavior. Is it pre-judgmental? Sure. But aren't we supposed to learn from history? Exactly. Is it wrong to make judgments based off of the actions of a certain race as a whole? No, that makes you even more aware so you can be prepared or avoid "black neighborhoods". Would you walk through compton? Probably not. Why? Because black people live their and it's dangerous. It's not that we hate black people, it's just that we don't understand their primitive behavior. Black people have dug quite possibly the biggest ethnic hole imaginable and sunk so far in, it's impossible for them to ever come out.For the rest of the time on this earth, as long as you, your children, and your children's children live, there will be black people giving the black race a bad name.
